Christmas time + the flu in 2009 didn't bode very well for me going to the mall and shopping so I hit Amazon for gift cards.
I found out what restaurants my mother in law likes and it turned out to be Ruby Tuesdays - they love Ruby Tuesdays food.
A few clicks in my pajamas while I was sick and *poof* - the shopping was done for the year (yay) and my mother in law just thinks the world of me.
I'm a big fan of gift cards - they can be used almost any time and the recipient can order what they want.
Just pay attention to what restaurants your recipient has in their area - in some more rural areas the more popular restaurants may not exist.
